IMPORTANT: The new download file does not fix any of the issues the game has. It merely removed a certain problematic asset from the build so it can remain downloadable here on itch for anyone who wanted to experience the true jankyness of my first game. The project is still corrupted and cannot export when I make serious code changes but removing an asset allowed me to export it still. 

This is also NOT the version I post updates about on twitter. That is a remake of this game and is essentially a completely different game built from the ground up in a different engine.

Synopsis:

You play as a down on his luck drifter who gets caught in a storm forcing you to seek shelter at a nearby manor house. 

A maid invites you in and gives you a room for the night. Unfortunately, being completely broke, you can't resist the urge to rob the place after seeing all the wealth on display. You decide to wait for the storm to pass, steal as much as you can and make your escape. 

However, the maid will not let you get away so easily...

Features:

- Pursuer type enemy.

- Voice acting.

- Interaction style gameplay

- Multiple endings (5)

How to Play:

- WASD to move

- E to interact (X button if you're using an xbox controller)

- L for candle (Y button if you're using an xbox controller)

- LMB to throw items (Right bumper on controller)

- RMB to drop items (Right trigger on controller)

- Left shift to run (Left stick press on controller)

To turn in loot, you must find the sack and once acquired you must set it down at the ENTRANCE of the house. This is in the main hall area behind the open door. If you have the sack you will see a green outline indicating where to place it.

FAQ:

- How long is the game?

This is a relatively short experience and can very likely be completed in under 30 minutes.

- Game has a lot of bugs. Why won't you fix them?

Much as I would love to, the latest build of my project was corrupted and if I had to use an older build, I may as well just remake it from scratch considering how far back it was. 

EDIT: A remake in Unreal Engine is indeed in the works but will be a paid version with more content and better quality of life. A free demo will be available and will have the same content and endings from this version which will pretty much replace this version in relevance.

Known bugs/potential fixes:

- The sensitivity is weird:

If you have a gamepad plugged in and wish to use the mouse, try unplugging the gamepad to see if it helps at all. Alternatively, play the game with the gamepad.

- Items fall through the floor/go through walls:

This only really happens when you throw items. It's an issue I was never really able to resolve at the time. So as annoying as it sounds, the best I can suggest is to avoid throwing items too much.

- An item I left on a couch/table/etc seems to have disappeared/is in a different spot after leaving it behind on something and returning to the room later:

This was an attempt to improve the performance of the game, so objects would turn off if you left the room they were in. So any object you left on top of something would fall down if you left the area. The simplest solution would be to just drop an item on the ground.

Another Epic Game. 4/5 Please Increase the POV it's too much zoomed in.

Ah ha. This game isn't that good since it was my first one. ^_^; I unfortunately can't even work on it anymore since project is corrupted now so it's impossible for me to increase the POV. But, I am remaking it in Unreal Engine with lots of extras. Look forward to it! :D

This was a fun game! If you don’t want to watch the whole gameplay, my little review of sorts begins at 33:58. I do hope that you make more games, this concept was definitely unique that’s for sure.

I'm surprised people are still even finding this. XD I watched the whole thing since I have to in case you had bugs or feedback that other people didn't mention. (And believe me there was a lot.)

Thank you for the encouragement and feedback. I actually am currently in the process of remaking this game in a different engine with new content and  better everything since many mistakes were made as a newbie dev and I want to try one more time. If all goes well, it'll be released sometime this year. :)

I think the real grave mistake would be not playing this game. Its has a very nice worrying atmosphere. I wouldn't say horror really, but there is definitely level of nervous you receive from walking the halls, unsure of exactly where your pursuer will be based off noise alone.

The lack of prior knowledge of whats going on in this mansion before entering also adds a nice amount of desire to explore and find secrets, Easter eggs, or read through the diaries laid out throughout.

There were a couple bugs here or there with throwing items or collision boxes, but nothing that makes it unplayable or impact the core game. Overall Great work!

Also no worries. Funny story, I actually came across it by pure coincidence since I needed a screenshot so I was searching for someone who did a let's play prior then I came across your video which I hadn't seen beforehand.

Happy to hear you had fun playing my flawed game. lol I watched the vid and I noticed you were having some issues with the mouse sensitivity. If you decide to play again, if you have a gamepad, try it with that. It should run better since that's what I was using when I was making the game. Alternatively, if you had a gamepad plugged in at the time, unplug it and see if the mouse works better.

It was a bug I discovered much later and wasn't really able to fix since the project this build is from got corrupted. :(

We were thinking we might revisit it at some point, especially since we were new at the game and didn’t make much progress, and had lots of fun playing it.

Thanks for the tip on using a gamepad! Definitely something to keep in mind, for our next playthrough.

I did put a decent amount of content here and there to test stuff. Would be interesting to see what you are able to find. And, I think you might have noticed taking it slowly and carefully is the safest approach to exploring the house. XD

Hey there, for sure I will be willing to try out your first game. I had a lot of fun running and screaming at Marina, there are few things that I mentioned on the video for you, but there is one more important bug that I found (It is more like a hack) It happened in the room she left for me upstairs and in that way I managed to take her keys XD... I really wish that this gameplay walkthrough to help you out. Really loved your game honestly! I wish there were more guide for the game inside instead of the game page, I had to go back there to read about the bag hints, but it didn't cause any problem... really so lovely fun game. I sense there is more in the story, I heard someone says "come here" CREEPY XD 

I would also ask you to join my YouTube channel, becuase this is what keeps me going and making more videos like this! It is your support.

That was pretty good and I did two endings. Hope to see more from you in the future.  You can limit the Raycast to prevent objects going into walls.

Thank you. :D That was a fun watch. It made me realize I didn't explain the whole sack thing very well so perhaps I'll have to update the page description here. 

In regards to the doll, I feel that wasn't too well explained either. Essentially once you take her, she will point you towards a certain item that will change into a glowing red flask. You need to find all of them for her route.
